I am located in greensboro, nc. I currently have a building on a pretty busy street. I am located right in front of a car lot and next to a rim shop. Perfect location. I have only worked for myself. I am not sure what I should pay other painters to work for me. Should I pay them commission only, or a base pay plus commission? Please advise

Hampton Georgia, I currently paint cars out of my garage at home and do a great job doing it. I mainly get business through word of mouth, I paint them for 200 or 150 if they bring the paint. Its a nice side hobby that I enjoy doing on the weekend only down side is can only do one car at a time, looking for a small shop right now but don't really want to apply for business license and all that other stuff you need.

Portage, Pennsylvania, USA. I am currently unemployed without much hope of finding employment at my old regular job. I am currently considering starting an Auto Painting Business out of my home garage. I am experienced with this type of work and my garage is already set up to do this kind of work with the exception of a regulation paint booth. Id also have to obtain the necessary permits, find out about zoning laws ,etc. My plan is to not really do collision repair work, just to do repaints like on older faded or rusted vehicles. With so many people keeping or buying older vehicles now, I feel there is a need for this type of business. I'ld do panel replacement and paint work but not heavy crash repairs. Id also like to expand into selling tires, and doing brake and exhaust work later. I would offer low prices like the guy in Georgia and hopefully go on word of mouth and local advertisement. Is this a fantasy, or could it be a good idea?
