hi, am oluwafemi with snailery at ibadan and badagry, south west nigeria. Available to help u setup or manage one for you. Available also to supply bulk and for export purpose, as we also source to fulfill bulk requests. Achatina spicies are indeed fascinating lots. They hardly fall sick, very adaptive and will feed on varieties of leafs, fruits that will cost u little and, such things as sand and paper will cost u nothing! Ensure u avoid salt in whatever u feed them, keep the environment wet, cold and dark. Use loamy soil or sawdust 4d floor and u are good to go. Text or call +2348034554142

We've been running a snail farm in Eket Akwa-Ibom state for the past 18 months. In a nutshell, its a niche market with an amazing demand potential. My experience so far is that snails are very sensitive to changes in humidity & heat; they require a great deal of attention for you to succeed-you dont want to rely on unsupervised hired farm-hands to do this! Unfavorable pricing of mature snails by potential customers is another challenge, you have to come up with a measure for snail value (weight/size of shell..)another is the rather slow growth rate of snails. I'm still conducting the cost-benefits of utilizing compounded feeds vs the low cost leafs and left-over food feeding approach. the jury is out on that. On the positive side the ability of snails to multiply is amazing; however this comes wit the challenge of constructing adequate housing for the millions of small snails.

good day sir. I am starting up a snail farming business but a new discovery of the adverse effects of predatory red ants which is known to come from the ground has posed a source of concern to me. my inquiry is, 'how can these ants be prevented from coming up into the farm?'. This question is necessary because, controlling it might be more strainous than preventing it if it can be prevented at all. thanks for your anticipated answer.

  • oluwafemi beginner adviser said on February 18, 2014
Hi All. Glad to be back on the forum to share valuable tricks. What am about to share should boost your snail growth and immunity, plus it is typically low cost and may cost next to nothing. The deal is to feed your snails fresh Moringa Oleifera leaves everyday or at least every 3days. Try also to deliberately litter their pens with whole or halved wet (water saturated/soaked) concrete block (with two or one hole intact). That way, a lot of their calcium requirement will be satisfied while you also get better humidity to the bargain. +2348034554142
