Growing Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has a lot of medicinal help hence, starting an aloe vera farm is indeed going to be helpful especially in your community and much more, on prospering your business farm.

Acquire the necessary knowledge and skills on starting the aloe vera farm and be the leading aloe vera supplier in your community and even to product manufacturers.

Aloe vera is a semi succulent plant. As an ornamental plant they are widely known for their proven medicinal value. Each part of aloe vera has different medicinal implication. Hence, there is really more reasons to staring an aloe vera farm. Growing aloe vera is not that difficult. It is less sensitive to climate and less hard on maintaining at their best condition.

In deciding to start a farm, first thing to consider is the land. Is the land you are considering to transform into a farm has the soil good enough to cater the needs of the plant? Is the area appropriate for the temperature needs of the aloe vera? When the answers convince you more on pushing through with starting the aloe vera farm, and then do so.

Aloe vera usually grows in places where there is less possibility for reaching a very low temperature. Aloe vera enjoys warm places and survives the warmness due to their 95% water composition. This allows them to withstand temperate or even hotter climate. Aloe vera does not die due to thirst thus, it needs less supervision and watering. But this does not imply that water is minimally needed. You must know how occasionally they need it for them to grow at the right phase. Studying their conditions should be one of your priorities for you to be able to have the best aloe vera harvests.

When planted in warm location, make sure that they are positioned where there is enough sunlight or even in full and direct sunlight. Sunlight aids a lot in growing healthy aloe vera. The soil definitely plays a vital role in growing aloe vera. Soil must be fairly fertile which means that it is not so rich and not too dry or pale.

Although we are discussing farming here, it is also worth mentioning that aloe vera can be planted in pots. And in doing so, bear in mind that it requires well drained potting soil and it must be kind of sandy. You could start planting on pots and when you have acquired the appropriate knowledge on growing aloe vera, like becoming aware when they will need water and when they will need full sunlight and, then you may shift to aloe vera farming.

Growing aloe vera needs minimum amount of maintenance. Just provide them with the environment that they needed and sure enough that they will grow accordingly. One of the enemies of aloe vera is ants and thus, you should be keen on observing ants’ invasion on your farm.

@Thangaraj, mango and coconut falls into long term strategy and low maintenance as well. Aloe vera is very profitable, low market and higher maintenance than mango and coconut. If you prefer aloe vera then you can clear your land anytime and go for other agricultural businesses.

  • Raghunath expert adviser said on March 18, 2011
@sandeep singh, Hello sandeep singh, Here are some points for you to consider.
    • Aloe Vera plants will grow best in warm weather than cold, it is even better if your land is in mountain belt.
    • Most important point is type of soil, sandy loamy soil is best for growing aloe vera.
    • There are various ways to spread the plant but it is generally spread by root suckers, make sure to dig properly without disturbing the parent plant and move to the main field.
    • Aloe vera startup cost in India per acre will be about 1.5 lacs rupees per acre/year, this includes labor cost, plantation cost, plants, machine cost etc. I am considering you have the land already so land cost is not included.
