    Hello to all.

I notice everyone have a question on how much it cost to start dairy business so i will share with you what I read at blog somewhere.. do your own calculation because each state would have a different price structure.

    1. Each animal will require about 50 square feet living space and about another 100 square feet to be little mobile with the herds. so that is your barn estimates.

    2. about the grass, for each 5 animals, you will need one acre farm to graze.

    3. And about the labor, you will need 1 person for 10 animals to milk and take care of them.

    4. I have not looked into milk processing unit but that can be outsourced as well.

Hope this calculations help. I am located in NJ and trying to figure out whether to move back to mother India or not so that's how i got all above details. I like to start some thing in Gujarat, more like a process the milk and make a byproducts from it. I am planning to get some college courses here and may be work in a cheese factory to get my hands dirty and learn. I love to chat with someone who already have similar infrastructure set or planning to do so.
