Hi, I am planning to start a small paying guest accommodation (or a ladies hostel). I have my own space of around 700 sq.ft, which is above my residence and i have partitioned the same as three rooms and one hall. The plan is to accommodate around 8 - 10 people. I would be personally taking incharge of the food and maintenance. I am a lay man seeking good suggestions. Chennai, Tamilnadu, India.

We are opening a new hostel in Saint Paul MN that will be be the only metro area hostel in Minnesota and just the third in the upper midwest states. The others are in Madison,WI and Chicago. Our hostel will be affiliated with the HIUSA network. We will accommodate between 32-36 guests and hope to open by late summer 2014. We have found a building centrally located in the downtown. I already purchased a land near the beach in Botolan Zambales, Philippines and I want to build a hostel in this area. Botolan is a home to a famous Mt. 1. For what type of students you want to start a hostel (class, area...)
2. Income group of students for whom you want to establish the hostel?
3. How much students you want to cater for?
4. Where you want to establish it and is the location suitable for the targeted students 5. What will be the most suitable location..

Hi, I own a house in a 20*30 plot kalyannagar. It has 2 house, 1 BHK & another duplex 3 BHK. I am planning to make it a PG. Can you please me with the procedure?. I heard that people with more than 12 units will for a PG business will need to get a trade license. It is only max 3 portions. Can you please guide me through this? I am not very sure if the neighbours would be happy about it. They were restricting us to let it out for office use. I am in the planning stages of starting a Hostel or Bed & Breakfast here in the USA. I have the financial resources, business background, motivation to bring this to fruition. I am looking for a like-minded individual to partner with me in this endeavor--someone who is a mature christian like myself, has some savings (money) to invest in as well, and will bring to the table his or her expertise in different aspects of a new start-up. Someone who is willing to give their best and be there for the long haul, not bail out, as starting and running a business is not for the "faint of heart." I have traveled the world, over 50 countries and stayed at all kinds of hostels in the past 30 years, am a US citizen, presently residing in TN, and have my finances in order. I have run a small company before and worked for large corp. like IBM and a couple of others as well.

My Advice is: ask yourself is this what you truly want to do, is this what makes you happy. Secondly, get your finances in order. Most people over-romanticize the idea of opening a hostel; either because they enjoy traveling so much, or just completely underestimate what they are getting themselves into starting up a business.
