    I would like more information on opening a WIC only store in Fort Bragg, Ca. As a WIC recipient, I have first hand experience with having to deal with WIC in large grocery stores,and frankly, it stinks. I would like to make getting WIC easier for the families in my area.     I currently own and operate a WIC store in Southern California. I have been doing so since April 2010.     Currently the WIC program is under a moratorium. They will be opening the program back up in January. You need to call the state office @ 512-341-4400 ask for vendor relations tel them you want to open a WIC store. Let me know if you need any help. We are certified POS system providers.     The WIC program is currently going through a moretorium. They are not allowing new stores to open. You will need a store and some merchandise to pass the inspection. That i know of there is currently no program that will help you with funding. You can call the WIC office and request an application. There number is 512-341-4400 ask for vendor relations. If you do get an application I can help you fill it out.

    You need to get your food stamp permit first. They are no longer allowing WIC only stores to open. It would have to be a traditional (grocery) store.
