    Dear Reader and lover, investor and fellow farmers both existing and aspiring farmers. I have read many post complaining of been profitable in this business and some sourcing for feed ingredient, ranging from some interested going into the business. here is my advice: the business is very lucrative, profitable, viable, and liberal by nature but over-all performance of fish farming depend on so many factors which most investors doesn't consider before venturing into the business. here i will talk about some little factors that are essentials for good yield of the investment;
    1. source of your foundation stocks
    2. stocking density
    3. water qualities such as temperature,ph level, dissolve oxygen level,etc
    4. feed and feeding. and many more.
    5. technical know how.
    all the above mention criteria have to be met for good performance. for more details on catfish business without cry call 08034363444

    @mrs okeke,  Good day - well, it's all depend on your stocking capacity but you can used 18ft by 7ft with an height of 4ft or 5ft which will conveniently accommodate 1000  - 1600 fishes to table size but since you are starting new i can advice you stock btw 500 -800 fishes in the pond. Do you still need any other information???

    Hello, pls I need help urgently. My fishes are dying, I lost about 30 yesterday alone! I setup my catfish business early last month with the help of a consultant; I started with about a 1,000 juveniles in a plastic vat (2,000litres). Their first feed was multi-feed and not coppens. They are almost 2 months old and have never been sorted (my consultant keeps promising to come, and I don't know how to do it); their feed has not been changed. And I noticed, they keep changing colour. What could be the cause of the deaths? I want to go and buy fish biotics tomorrow. Thank you all for your assistance.

    I actually want to advice people who tend to invest in fish farming. It is very risky and very profitable if everything is in place. First of all ur stocking density should be measured according to ur pond size. Don't over stock the pond if u do u will definitely harvest stunted fishes. Secondly u have to sort regularly, sorting is one activity that holds sway in this business, if u don't sort there is all possibility that the larger ones will eat up and even dominate the pond.. Thirdly u have to change the water regularly,fish live in water and if their habitat is not conducive for them then u have yourself to blame. The fourth Is feeding, there is no cut corners what u give to them is what they will eventually become. Contact me on 08061682047 BB pin 25a3dcdc for any advise.

    It saddens me, and i have great concern for those in d biz and potential investors. However, for anyone to raise channel catfish successfully, proper attention must be given to the following:
    1. The quality of stock product i.e what size is d parent-stock and how was it fed. Stock must come from reputable hatchery.
    2. Appropriate feed sizes from well known reputable producers.
    3. Regular feeding and adequate water supply.
    4. Proper treatment demoding and netting of the pond.Nb: make no mistake Earthen ponds are fishes natural habitat.
    5. Local feed formula is highly essential from a REAL practicing consultant.
    6. seeing is believing. At CHANNEL FARMS we mix words with action and hope to become an household name in catfish farming soon.
