Hello, I'm a 26 year old guy from KENYA in search of information. First of all i would like to thank you for the vast information. I want to venture into pig farming. I have available land and capital and so I'm thinking of starting with 5 pregnant sows and 10 piglets. My estimate is 1 pregnant is (KSH30,000-KSH50,000) and a piglet KSH 3,500. Am i right? My main question is, how much does 1 piglet consume(in terms of feeds and money) till its ready for market? and how much will it cost me to build the housing? Thanks in Advance Regards, Kelvin

hi, if you go through above comment, we clearly see that a lot of person want to involve in piggery farm. no doubt, piggery is one of profitable business, its demand is increasing day by day and there is no chance to decrease in demand in near future. but the important thing of the business is, one should love the pig and able to enjoy the piggery business, able to take care the health of pig.these are the important as well as fundamental thing in the case of piggery business. only concentrate on money expect to generate from piggery business, can not go ahead and can not success. pig is unique animal, can not be compared with goat, sheep and so on. it has good memory power, color vision, enjoy in playing, more over it is monogestric as body structure, can highly affected by temperature, it can not sweat. and their behavior is unique, if you forget these fundamental things regarding pig, we can not success in piggery business. this is my experience. thank you, hope to see comment, madhushanker email mantra_nepal@yahoo.com

@Don: Hi Don, I would like to ask for your help. I live in South Africa. I want to set up a pig farm in a few years. I would very much appreciate your help. I have no experience on this field (I'm an engineer), but I'm very enthusiastic and dedicated. I did a lot of research, but I could use your help. I have no property, but I'll have around 150.000 USD to invest in about 2 years. Should I rent a farm or rather buy a small land somewhere? I want to live around Cape Town. Thanks you in advance for you help. My email: krisztiankovacs82@gmail.com. Best regards, Kris
