How to Start a First Advertising Campaign

An advertising campaign, based on definition, is a series of messages that has a common idea and theme, which is sent to consumers using different media like television, newspapers, and Internet within a specific time frame. The advertising campaign also contains information about your business or product, which make up an integrated marketing communication.
In order for you to have a successful advertising campaign even if it is your first time, you need to know everything about your product and what the market wants. The most critical part of creating an advertising campaign is to know what a “champion theme” is. This way, you can set the tone of advertising you will use and the kind of media needed to disseminate the information.To know more what are the things you need for your first advertising campaign, follow the steps below and work your way to success.
Step 1. Know who your target audience is. It should be specific as possible. By doing this, you can focus on the particular segment of the population that has the needs for your products.
When you chose a segment, the “teenagers segment” is not enough since it is still too broad. You should try to trim it down to a more specific age group like teens aged 14 to 16 years old. It would be easier for you to decide what products should you use or sell to them.
Step 2.Know the media you would like to use for the advertising campaign. This is actually the easiest part of doing the advertising campaign. By defining the target audience, you would instantly have an idea on what media to use. For example, if you have chosen the 14 to 16-year-old age group, the media you can use is the television and radio since teenagers this age are usually tuned in to certain programs giving you more exposures.
Step 3. If you can afford to spend money, go to a professional advertising agency. Working with the best when it comes to advertising will give you more chances of being seen on the particular media you would like to use.
Also, advertising groups already have the equipment and workforce like graphic designers, copywriters that can produce a powerful message for your audience. It will also be less effort for your part.
Step 4. If you have chosen an agency to do your work, get at least three suggestions or recommendations to know exactly what you are getting for your money. If you want to know if that particular media can reach the target market, do a thorough review on the people tuning in on those channels.
Step 5. Set up an account for the advertising budget. This will define how much you will only need to spend for a particular advertisement in that particular time frame. The budget should be strictly maintained to avoid confusion of funds.
Step 6. Track the advertising results to see the affectivity of the advertising campaign. Remember, if you failed in your first advertising campaign, it is just a learning experience and will be the platform for changes that you should do for your future advertisements.
