Wal-Mart Stores Inc on Wednesday announced the recall of the entire Miley Cyrus-brand of necklaces and bracelets after reports released by The Associated Press (AP), showing that the jewelry contain high level of toxic metal element called cadmium.

The announcement was made by Wal-Mart three hours after the respected news company released its findings.

In a statement, the largest retailer in the world said that the exclusive line of kids’ and teens’ jewelry has already been pulled out from its shelves while their investigation was ongoing.

Cyrus and Max Azria, the designer of the exclusive “Hannah Montana” jewelry, also took their part in the statement, saying that the bracelets and necklaces will no longer be sold and apologize for the incident.

It will be recalled that AP have already informed Wal-Mart about the toxic kids’ jewelry line along with the bracelet charms in February, which was based on an earlier tests conducted by the news agency.

The retail giant had continued to sell the products until on Wednesday, saying that it has been difficult to pullout the best-selling items that has already hit the shelves.

Meanwhile, Wal-Mart did not specify if the recall would include the charm bracelets that were included in the AP report.
