The Return of Barter Economy

The U.S. dollar, which is considered as the currency of the world, is at an all-time low. And barter economy naturally arose as a means of economic exchange like in the ancient world. Today, several barter systems are in place alongside the replacement currencies operating in small rural villages or local city levels.

These days, there are barter systems that start either from a tiny village or from the web.

Here is a list of the most promising barter approaches:

1.Cyber Bartering – this is a new phenomenon. Barter-specific sites are now more popular than ever. Specialized sites such as Rehashclothes, Barterquest, and Barterbee offer various avenues for bartering depending on what service or goods you’re looking for. You can trade your motorcycle for a washing machine or your new snowboard for an old hockey gear, etc.

2.Regional Bartering –

business networks that trade the values of their services. For example, a plumber does a $400 repair job in a local brewery. And instead of trading this for $400 worth of chicken fingers and beers, he can trade his credit for other services or goods from other network members.

3.Big Businesses Bartering –

this may sound strange, but many of the largest companies in the world are involved in bartering. A recent study by a large network of more than 10,000 member businesses called Barter Business Unlimited says that 65% of corporations listed in New York Stock Exchange currently use barter to boost sales and reduce surplus inventory.

4.Local Bartering Circles –

people are returning to the local marketplace where exchanging services and wares are typical. Anything from produce to surfboards or electronics can be traded in these places.
