@mkwena, the growing process for dry land potatoes is the same as the others, the essential difference being, you target your planting for middle to late November. I am currently a development studies student from the university of Zambia. I am somewhat disappointed with my country because from the above adds, there is not even one from a Zambian. Zambians place much value on maize production which is not a cash crop, its prices are very low and the rural remain extremely poor. there is need to sensitise people to venture into various crops like potato and this can immensely assist to alleviate poverty. I sound out of the box but my major point is that I need valuable information on potato production. I have a lot of fertile land potential for the crop. I produce Tobacco and maize but I concentrate more on tobacco than maize. Tobacco I more vulnerable to droughts and this usually reduce my produce quantity and leaf quality. I therefore ask if there is potato information centre or any good potato farmer in Zambia to assist me with the whole production process of the crop starting from where to source quality high breed certified seed (pathogen free), fertiliser, planting time, required pesticides and herbicides , management, harvesting and storage and so on. your assistance will be highly appreciated.
