This sounds like a therapy that would greatly benefit our veterans dealing with PTSD. Has anyone thought to go through the VA Medical centers to see if possible for them to offer these services. It would possibly reduce prescription usage, depression and suicide. Any thoughts anyone? Why aren't there more of these and less half empty gyms.

Re: Ottawa float center, Chris St. John and Guy, if you guys are interested in doing Ottawa still, let's talk. I'm interested in starting one up in Ottawa as there used to be one back in the 80s but has since shut down. Population has grown immensely since then and it is definitely possible to sustain one these days (easily in downtown, west end or even east end). I have some ideas as to where and how to set one up, but am lacking in business and marketing savy. I also have a few business examples that I think would be good to follow. E-mail me eric (dot) jp (dot) serre (at) gmail (dot) com

I encourage everyone looking into starting a float center to follow your dreams and do it. Life is too short to do something you don't like. Live your like as if your the hero in a movie. You don't want the regret of not going after something you love because of fear or laziness. I'm starting Forever Floating Health Spa in Sydney. Looks us up at foreverfloating.com if you are in the area.

I am looking to start up a float center/wellness center in Birmingham, Alabama. I've been on the hamster wheel of life in retail furniture sales for 20 years and am tired of chasing the false sense of well being that is westerners are taught brings you peace or happiness (AKA-$). I am changing the course of my life and want to share with others how we are all born with innate health and wisdom inside us, and if we can all understand that our experience and feelings in life only come from our own thinking, then we can begin to let those thoughts and feelings come and go like automobiles passing on the highway and not give them the value to create suffering for ourselves. Only when we realize that we create our own happiness and misery through our thoughts, and not have the misunderstanding that it is any person, situation, or event outside of ourselves that we think is "doing" something to us can we truly shed our "ego" or false sense of who we really are. I believe the float centers across this world along with talking to people about this understanding of where your experience comes from in life is a key component in moving our society forward in the right direction. I fully intend to do my part, worldly possessions be Damned. I would appreciate any advice or information about start up and long term goals that anyone would care to share with me. The guy to talk to is Bob at Royal Spas in Indiana. His pods are the best and he is on the cutting edge with getting pods cleared with local health departments! I have thoroughly researched this business and would love to start one. Funds are the issue. I am consulting for some friends who are staring one since I did the due diligence for myself and opted out for now. It will be a great business.

Hello Rori, congratulations! That's great! I have been floating for four years now and love it. I love sharing it with people and I would love to see the industry grow and thrive in a good way. The one thing that I love to tell people is to make sure that they purchase the proper and best tanks that they can. With the high volume of people that you were going to be putting through these tanks on a commercial scale, you want to make sure that you get the best one you can so that you don't have to deal with future issues, but most importantly so that you can provide the best environment for self transformation and healing. I think that the most important part of providing a float Center, would be to provide a very positive experience. A lot of people jump into this business with the intention of just making money. I think money will come in abundance if you add value to people's lives. But if you cut corners and try to only focus on the money aspect and not the quality of the experience, the business will not be sustainable. I have flown all over the country and tried many different tanks to see which one is the best if any. And I have come to find the one that I would consider buying and the one that I would consider telling other people to buy at this point. Feel free to call me and I would love to talk more and share with you what I have found. It is a bit more expensive upfront, but the owners of the company have good intentions and integrity, and they are doing it for the right reason. I have seen too many people by low-quality tanks, which does not always allow for the best floating experience. My number is 480-244-8475. I also have some other info on the computer that I could send your way. I would love to connect you with the Float center and owner of that Center for builds the best tanks that I found as well.

James Grisinger, I did a float at a location in Kearny, NJ and they told me that the health department forces them to chlorinate the water. While the amount is minimal, I have not been back for that reason.

Hey everyone! My name is Matt Schober, and I'm a co-owner of a very successful center in Indianapolis, IN. We're in the process of expanding to a second location this year, as our three tanks can't currently keep up with the demand we're creating; and franchising is on the horizon for 2016 as well. If anyone has any questions, feel free to reach out to me personally at 317-625-6244!

Hi, I have written 16 custom business plans for float centers across the US. If you are serious about opening a center and obtaining funding, you do need a business plan that addresses your demographics and vision. Don't expect a business plan to be cheap, there is a lot of research and writing involved.

Hi All, I am from the west suburbs of Chicago and am thinking about opening up a float center here. I have read most of the comments in this thread and feel that I have absorbed some good information. From my research, there are only a couple float zones near my town. I would be interested in more information relating to Start up costs, regulations, what it takes to make a great float center and earning potential. I am willing to leave my current corporate job to start this business. Any industry insights from business owners or regular floaters would be greatly appreciated !!!!

@Joseph D., I am in process of opening Epic Float in the Northern Suburbs. I found a location on Route 12, Rand Road in Lake Zurich. I do have architect plans and a quote for my build out. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. My email is floatatepic@gmail.com. My location has plenty of room to build out more rooms other than the 4 I plan to start with. Would love to find a business partner who has passion for floating like I do. A great book if you want to know more about floating and all the effects it has on the mind and body, "The Book of Floating", a must read for anyone looking to open a center.

I query the information in this article... the salts take a week to dissolve?! I run a float centre and the salts do not take a week to dissolve.
