    Hi, I would like to start up my cold storage in rural areas (Like, Sarila hamirpur up). There is no cold storage so farmers suffers more and they have sold their agriculture products (like, potato, tomato etc) in very cheap rates in the market. In my areas their is no cold storage to store any agriculture product. please help me and guide me how to proceed it.

As I am from Agra, Uttar Pradesh I am looking for a person with a great knowledge of starting a cold storage with all the details regarding govt policy, license, project cost, land needed, etc. Right now I don't have any land.     @Shive Naidu, cost of 1000 Mt of potato - size shall be appx 19.5 M x 19.5 M x 9.5 M to 10 M or equal volume appx but increase in height. power requirement 30 KW. area of land appx 1500 sqm. extra provision of Office + ante room+processing area +toiltes, rest room etc. cost shall be appx 120 lakhs based on cost of bricks @ 7.00 each, cost of steel at site Appx @ Rs. 50.00 per Kg. etc. likely subsidy shall be Rs 2800 per 3.4 CUM ( per MT) of cold chambers subject to proper technical standard followed. all this is an approximation. you will need 1) soil test( through some lab), approval of map of plant, conversion of land for cold storage or non agriculture land, making of boundary, NOC from Fire service department before taking up the plant construction. bank are available for such projects. during / after construction, structural drawing for NBC norms are followed, registration with horticulture department.     for 5000 MT potato storage cost shall be appx 500 Lakhs plus another 150 Lakhs for solar energy. perhaps no case in past that cold store of such magnitude running with the solar plant.?

    how much you want to invest in store. minimum investment shall be Rs. 30 lakhs( inclusive of loan) no upper limit. it is a very good idea for storing vegetables gingers, lemon apples etc. during peak harvesting season and sell them after 3 - 4 months with almost 3 -4 times cost.

    Hi, I want to set up a cold storage at Gwalior, MP. I do not own a land to start with. I can invest around 15 lac. Do we get loan for land as well? And how much amount of loan can I get?     @PRITHVI RAJ BARANWAL, We are into consultancy of Cold chain and all kind of cold storage, Project report, Business Modeling, Bank appraisal, Bank finance, MoFPI and NHB subsidy. Govt has release EOI for giving subsidy of 35% on plane area and 50% Hilly & North east.Subsidy is for all type of food industry and expansion unit including cold chain. Both the scheme requires a Detailed Project Report (DPR) along with the bank appraisal note. DPR generally takes two months for preparation, which is inclusive of site visit and the bank appraisal note may take another two months. Keeping in view of the time constrain which generally happens after the EoI comes out, we should now start preparing the DPR so that the proposal is eligible for the grant-in-aid, as per the scheme guidelines.     any cold store owner new of old 5 to 1000 MT interested in solar power for running cold store above zero C - for potato fruits & veg. without excessive cost of battery operation. cost of plant can be recovered in 3-4 years thereafter plant can run on 10-15% OF COST OF electric bill. major profit area. subsidy on solar plant available.

    @maulik dholariya, common steps in Cold storage are
    1. get your land converted for factory i. e legally suitable for setting up of cold storage plants from Revenue department. it is a simple step. non agriculture land.
    2. decide the capacity of plant you likely to install mainly area based need and fund you want to induct. get the Market value of land after converting to non agriculture land. for bank loan - security.
    3. according to local bye laws, then get the drawing from architect. follow building bye laws according to Fire service deptt.
    4. get Fire clearance.
    5. discuss with the department processing the the subsidy for any additional requirement.
    6. get prepared the balance sheet & Profit & loss account from CA. this is major part of DPR.
    7. fix the consultant of DPR and contractor of installation of plant & machinery.
    8. apply for bank loan & keep your margin money ready. start construction. period required to complete shall be depending upon method of construction, materials used type of plant etc. only experienced consultant will help you.
