Common Grants for Organic Farming and How to Acquire for it

The Organic Farming Research Foundation or OFRF is one of the institutions that provides grant for organic farmers who want to prosper on this kind of industry, especially in terms of funding the business for the growth of organic farming. Their website at ofrf.org has sufficient information on how organic farmers can submit their requests for research, outreach, and education proposals. Recently, the foundation had been integrated with another big company in the industry of “organic fruit orchards” for further development of organic farming. The usual amount of grant being awarded by the foundation ranges from at least $2000 or as much as $15,000 depending on the purpose.

Moreover, there is another program that provides grant for qualified organic farmers under the guidance of the USDA; the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education or commonly known as SARE. This institution is promoting “sustainable agriculture” through the ways of organic farming and applicants for the grant can expect at least $15000 worth of funding.     Our farm is situated near Clarens, Free-State. We are currently in the process of growing and expanding our organic gardens. We are centrally located - Jhb, Durban and Bloemfontein are all about 300km from us. We are looking for grants to enable us to expand our organic gardens and to provide training.
