If you can find a used truck you can start a truck towing operation for under $1000. Your towing permit is $135.00, commercial tags around $120.00, insurance for $100,000 for your truck and $50,000 on-hook coverage runs about $200.00 a month. This is what it costed me to get started but i bought my truck for $2,000 and fixed it up!

Q: I am planning to start a tow truck business in Texas. Where can I find information on the licensing?
Visit the Web site of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. There are three types of tow operator licenses in Texas from which a tow truck operator may choose from. Each license authorizes the operator to a certain kind of towing. The certifications may be obtained from four designated program and associations by the state. The license is renewable every year with the requirement that a licensee must meet towing operator continuing education. A continuing education record fee payment of $5 is payable to the state Department of Licensing and Regulation. Some changes have been introduced to the rule about continuing education lately. Tow operators operating in Texas must check this out. They should also be aware of new tow trucks and operators classification under the Texas Tow Act. The Department allows online application of licenses.

I am selling my 4 yr. old business out of Las Vegas Nevada. The business has been contracted to provide roadside assistance on light medium and heavy duty vehicles & haul motorcycles. We had a flatbed but no longer, still the business produces about 60k per year. With a hauler or two, you can clime over 100k easy the first year. I am searching for a serious buyer with pre-approved business capital. The sales prices includes coverage area to include Las Vegas, North Las Vegas Boulder City, Sloan Jean Primm... furthermore, you would have a business est since 2005, service vehicle and tools plus training. Without a wrecker the sales price is just $66k or with a brand new hauler and cpcn# the price would be $149,990.00

My son has been unemployed for a year and we have been thinking about starting up a towing business. Which is the best way to start? Should we start out doing repo's and show do we contact? How do you get put on the calling list the police departments so that you can be called out for accidents, about how much should you need for start up and about how long on average is it before you start to be comfortable with the payments on the truck and insurance is it for the average new start up person? i just want something that is going to be a stable job no matter what the economy is.

Two associates and I are looking at starting a small wrecker operation. We figure between the three of us, we can all work a part time job (unless things really take off) and still be able to keep the truck in operation 24/7. How do I/we get started? Do we need any other certifications? What kind of license is it we need? Do all of us need to get one? How much does that usually cost? How much does the insurance usually run and where does one obtain such insurance? I'm really wanting to figure all this out through and through, but I don't really know where to start searching... Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks, And to everyone else... Peace & Prayer
