Myself Srikumar Chakraborty, in a group, assisting mini steel plant mostly in capacity of MSME making alloy & special steel as consultant for improving quality, productivity optimizing product cost, process/ product development. To me i.e. from our long experience, we feel to set up mini steel plant for making alloy & special steel the best option will be installation of IF ranging 10-15T capacity with machable vacuum degassing unit when production will be expected as 30,000T to 45,000T ( considering 10 heats/day in total 300 working days), setting up a billet caster for casting 125/140 RCS for re-rolling of alloy steel and balance critical grades like tool steel, AISI 4130/40,4340,En25, DB5/6 forging. Hope nearness to auto industry, power sector and engineering industries will give satisfactory dividend for further expansion/modernization and will bring happiness and peace in the organisation. Site selection, marketing potential and consuming sectors are to be examined seriously. Best Wishes
