Tag Heuer to “Downscale” Tiger Woods Campaign Ads in the US

Tag Heuer said it would downscale the use of Tiger Woods campaign ads in the US. But Tag stressed that it will continue its relationship with the golfer until foreseeable future or upon the golfer’s return in the professional golfing tournament.

World renowned watchmaker Tag Heuer on Friday announced that it will “downscale” the use of advertising campaign in United States that involves golf superstar Tiger Woods until the “right time”.

In a statement, however, Tag Heuer clarified that they will not drop the deal with Woods, saying that it will continue its relationship with the golfer but with several modifications in its marketing campaigns in certain regions.

The Swiss watchmaker said that they are doing so out of respect for the golfer’s privacy, which has been under constant attack from various media organizations after revelations of an affair with a waitress.

Tag said that the changes in the campaign strategy will depend on Wood’s decision to return to professional golf. Woods has been with Tag Heuer since 2002 and has been one of the highest valued advertisers for the company. He is also the highest paid athlete in the world today.

Also, the watch company said that they will continue to provide for the charitable foundation founded by Woods.

It will be recalled that the watchmaker has stood beside Woods when the issue broke out. However, on Monday, the company has leaned on a more viable business aspect by announcing that it would reassess its relationship with the golfer.Tag Heuer, on the other hand, did not specify the affected markets where it would curtail the use of Wood’s advertisements and images.
