Wal-Mart Aims to Dethrone Amazon

Summary: Walmart.com holiday sales is now growing in unprecedented pace as the company set its eye in dethroning the dominant Amazon.com.

According to division CEO Raul Vazquez, the world’s largest retailer is making huge progress with its online sales after it has launch the website last October.

Walmart.com division chief executive officer Raul Vazquez revealed in Friday that the company’s online retail sales during the holiday season have been growing two to three times faster than the overall web sales.

With roughly a week before Christmas, Vazquez bared that walmart.com has posted a 22 percent growth rate this year as the world’s largest retailers is set to take the dominant position in the online market much like it did in different towns and cities in the United States.

Vazquez said that they are doing everything they can to cope up with the strong demand from consumers online, adding that they now eye the dethroning of the online leader in retailing, Amazon.com.

To date, the official said that walmart.com has a control over 8 percent of the total online retail sales traffic and steadily gaining against Amazon’s 15 percent record this year. The study was conducted by Experian Hitwise to more than 500 online merchants.

Since it has started selling personal care products like beauty items, diapers, and over the counter medications in October, walmart.com has been on top of its game selling over 1.5 million items or more than 10 times of the sales posted in a typical Wal-Mart store.
