Toyota Raises Year’s Sale Forecast by 3 Percent

Toyota Resets to 6.7 Million Car Sales This Year

Summary: Japanese carmaker Toyota reset its sales forecast into a higher level as car sales for the rest of the years is expected to spike up.

Toyota has put the bar by more than three percent or around 6.7 million new car sales for its 2009-2010 fiscal year.

World’s largest automaker Toyota Motor Corp on Friday had set a higher forecast for its global vehicle sales for the rest of the year. The company has raised its forecast by three percent or more than 6.7 million cars for its 2009-2010 fiscal year.

Experts said that the move by Toyota to raise the bar higher is a proof that people are going back to showrooms to buy new vehicles as the auto industry expects more demand in the coming months.

Toyota has earlier announced that it will be increasing its global production by more than eight percent or 6.45 million new cars this year. But the consistent government subsidy and tax incentives for buyers prompted the automaker to increase the production line further.

Asked for further comment, Toyota executives could not be reached while some refused to comment.

The recent recession had a hounding effect on the industry and Toyota was among those greatly affected by the slump. But recent progress in the economy has helped the car company to weather the storm by posting some nine percent increase in sales last August; it was also higher than what it had last year.

The Japanese government hopes to maintain the pace by giving its people $2, 789 worth of subsidy. It has also extended the deadline for the incentives up to 2012.
