Starting Roll off Container Business

If you want to start a roll off container business, you should study the local market and know if there is a demand for such service. Find out the local requirements to opening this type of business and decide on the business structure.

Find a landfill in your area and check out the rates.

Anywhere you go waste disposal is always needed whether it is construction cleanup, lawn debris, and trash. Starting a roll off business can be a great way to earn money. Most states have dumpster companies and with this type of business, you will need to get in touch with them. This is the most important consideration because if you can’t determine the place where you will put the waste your business will not succeed. In every municipality, there is a landfill where you can dump all the trash you’ve collected. This will involve paying fees, so try to find out the charges first.

Things to Do

You will need roll off containers and trucks. This will entail a significant capital and if you don’t have enough, you can always apply for business loans. You can check with SBA to secure small business loans but you must have a detailed business plan. This is the easiest way to get the funding that you need for the business. The second thing you have to address is the legal requirements. Determine the licensing requirements in your area. You can inquire at the local city or county office about the licensing for haulers.

It is not possible to start a home-based business because you can disturb neighbors. You should locate a space where you can park the trucks. Try leasing out a space and the office should also be located on site. Pick a location that is easily accessible to you and your staffs. It should be near the area that you’re servicing. Purchase the needed equipment like dump trucks and roll off containers. You can begin with only one truck and as you expand, you can now purchase additional equipment. For the container, you will need a small, medium, and large container. Make sure that your truck can handle the capacity.

If you are not going to drive the truck, you will need a driver. Determine if there are special permits that you need to obtain, including your employees. Start setting up the accounts, utilities, internet, phone, etc. Find network functions in your area and try to attend. Make a positive impression among the guests to attract potential clients. Marketing the business is very important. You can try giving away flyers or business cards to provide contact information to clients. Starting a roll off container business can be very easy if you have a business plan. Conduct a market research and you will be able to ensure the success of the business.

I rented a roll-off container from A-1 Containers in Columbia, Mo. When the container was delivered, the driver damaged my roof, gutter and soffit. I called the owner and told him what occurred. He said he makes the driver responsible for any damage they cause. Is he saying he doesn't have insurance for his container-delivery trucks? Is this legal in Missouri? When I've tried to call back to let them know the container is ready to be picked up, I get a recording saying the caller cannot leave a message. An attorney said I can fill out a form with the Missouri Dept of Revenue, but I haven't been able to find the form on the internet. Do you have any advice for me? Thank you
