How to Start Your Own Bike Courier Business?

It’s quite obvious that you need a driver’s license for this but aside from that, you will also need a DBA license and an employer identification number. The legal requirements for this type of business may vary from one country to another, so you will need to consult with the right agency. Submit the required documents and pay the fees, so you will get the licenses or permits on time, prior to the opening. You will need to think of a catchy name for the business to attract potential clients.

A reputed business will attract more customers since it’s easier to gain their trust and confidence. Purchase the needed office furniture and fixtures. You will also need a computer and internet connection. Create a business website and business cards. You can even produce fliers that you can give away when you are promoting the business. With this type of business, you will need to hire staffs. You are going to invest on several quality motorcycles and so it will require a larger capital.

You can use a detailed business plan to secure funding. Try to check with SBA and see if you can obtain a loan. Determining the ideal business structure can also provide you with the needed capital. A partnership can have a larger source of capital as compared to sole owner but a better option is the LLP wherein the owners can limit the liabilities. You also have to purchase business insurance and make sure that you get enough coverage. Itemize the services that you’re offering and you must determine adequate pricing. You can ask help from friends and family for referrals. Make sure that all deliveries are made on time to attract repeat customers.

Shawnee, OK. I'm a student in college, and thought I could run packages and papers as a small delivery service with a few of my friends. We all own motorcycles and love to ride, so I thought doing a small business would be a great idea to make a new income and job opportunity. I'm going to college right now to learn about opening and running a business, and want to base it around motorcycles. I thought maybe doing this would open a way to start saving money early and set me on track to get myself in the motorcycle industry, even if its just a little help. What do I need to start off? I've got a bike, storage space on the bike (saddle bags/a backpack) and really want to know, what kind of licenses or insurance I would need. Or anything relevant, I'm an amateur in the business world and am ignorant of legalities and proper start up. I thought I could just start passing out business cards and get jobs in, but I don't wanna get jail time for my own ignorance, any ideas?
