June Sales go down 10 to 20 percent due to heavy rainsSummary: An official of the East Broadway Merchants Association said that heavy rains have caused severe blow to the retail sales in June, adding that hampering job loss over the past few months also slowed down sales rate. A recent data showed that retail sales in June have plummeted 10 to 20 percent as retailers expressed fear that it will continue its downward spiral due to heavy rains in the coming weeks.
In a statement, East Broadway Merchants Association President Marci Rasmussen said that rains bring good news as it helps removes the summer heat away. However, he said that the rains also drove away most of their clients making their sales drop by as much as 20 percent. “When its raining people usually don’t come out,” he added.
