Open a Boston Pizza Restaurant Franchise

The Boston Pizza Restaurant is a pizza and pasta family restaurant that brings Greek inspired cuisine to the table.

The franchise is ideal for those who want to start their own business and have a passion for food.

The Boston Pizza started in 1964 when a Greek immigrant opened his first pizza establishment in Edmonton, Alberta. His first restaurant was known as the Boston Pizza and Spaghetti House and has developed from a small pizza establishment to the successful Boston Pizza Restaurant that it is today. The company started its franchise in 1968 and is now not only a restaurant but a fully functional sports bar as well. There are currently 2 corporate locations and 15 franchised ones across Western Canada.

To be considered an applicant one does not need prior business skills or experience rather the franchiser focuses on people skills, determination to succeed, passion for hard work and openness to development and change. The total investment necessary to open a Boston Pizza Restaurant franchise is roughly $1,700,000 to $3,100,000 with the initial franchise fee of $40,000. There is a 5% royalty fee, no advertising fee and a term of agreement of 10 years with a renewal fee of 20% of the current fee.

Boston Pizza follows a business model that focuses on profitability and success. This of course is highly reliant on the effectiveness of the franchisee and his or her core strengths in management. Therefore it is always best to do some initial research on the industry or better yet garner information, views and advice from those already in the business. This is especially true if you have no prior experience or know how with regards to how to manage your own restaurant. Do not hesitate to consult and ask around, it is both your right and responsibility as the franchise owner.

Upon application and approval of the potential franchise owner, the franchiser will focus on supporting the franchisees through training and support. The franchise owner will get all the necessary tools, equipment and basic management techniques from the support team and will continue receiving support throughout the operation of his or her restaurant. Initially application follows the process of approval, site selection and finally financing and leasing details. After which the franchisees will work hand in hand with the franchise and contractors and architects to discuss the construction of the restaurant and prepare it for the opening. Training is a seven week extensive program for both franchise owners and the management team. In store staff training takes place two weeks before the arrival of corporate trainers for staff and management, who stay and provide support for up to two weeks post operation.

After the company has set up the marketing and advertisement team works hand in hand with the franchise owner to discuss plans of action to reach target audiences. This is inclusive of publicities in local newspapers and magazines or broadcasting in tv and radio.
