Microsoft Sales Surge, Caps Off Big Week

Software Giants Closes Big Sales This Week, Beats Analysts Forecasts

Summary: Microsoft Corp., the biggest software developer worldwide, has made a significant surge in its sales following the released of the highly anticipated Window 7 OS, which has helped the firm to beat analyst forecasts.

The software giant also said that they expect better input in the coming months as the demands for the new OS continue to grow.

World’s largest software developer Microsoft Corp. has beaten earlier quarterly earnings forecasts by closing the week with big sale surge with the release of its Windows 7 Operating System and the deal with popular social networking site Twitter.

Based on records, the Washington-based software manufacturer’s profit has fallen 18 percent or $3.57 billion (40 cents per share) in the first quarter of its fiscal year. Its previous earnings were around $4.37 billion dollars (48 cent per share).

Likewise, Microsoft revenue has slipped by 14 percent or $12.92 billion in the first quarter. The software giant’s first quarter in the fiscal year has ended in September. But despite the decline in revenue, Microsoft had easily beaten earlier predictions by Wall Street analysts of $12.37 billion. Company officials said that they could have made better results if only they have allowed posting the $1.47 billion revenue it had acquired with the pre-sales of the Windows 7 OS and its optional upgrade program.

Also, with the adjustments taken into consideration, Microsoft has also surpassed the 32 cent per share, which was earlier predicted by Wall Street. The company has made 52 cents per share in the first quarter.

In a statement, Microsoft chief financial officer Chris Liddell said that they are very satisfied with the results and performance of the company, adding that the strong demand for the new Windows 7 will propel the company forward to better sales in the coming months.
