Hulu Partners with Disney and ABC TV

Video-sharing Site Boosts Its Marketing Scheme


Summary: Hulu, which is the fourth most popular video-sharing website, has recently made partnership deal with media giants ABC TV and Disney Movies which will provide contents including television shows.

Meanwhile, this move is in line with the company’s effort to attract more viewers and advertisers to generate more profit.

In an effort to unseat its rival YouTube as the most popular video-sharing website in the online market, Hulu had signed a partnership deal with media giants ABC TV and Disney Movies to attract more advertisers and viewers.


With this new agreement, Hulu, which is a company founded by News Corp. and NBC Universal, will provide online viewers with popular television shows such a "Wizards of Waverly Place", "Lost", and “Grey’s Anatomy”. Meanwhile, these programs will only be available in the site after these have been shown on TV.


Hulu used to acquire its content from TV.com, but after its contract has expired, the video site was forced to pull out all the contents from the online-television site which is now owned by media giant CBS Interactive.


Earlier report said CBS purchased TV.com for $1.8 billion in December 16, 2009.


With the collapse of the agreement between Hulu and TV.com, the former has decided to team up with Disney and ABC TV to provide a more diverse contents and videos to its online users.


Meanwhile, YouTube has also made partnership deal with several media giants including Sony Corp., CBS Corp., and Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. According to market research firm comscore, YouTube has 100.3 million viewers in March, making this as the most popular video streaming site in the market.
