How to Start Your Own Bodybuilding Supplements Shop

Starting your bodybuilding supplement shop is a lucrative and profitable business. You need to assess the products you will sell in your store, as this can make and break your entire business.

Make sure that you keep track of your inventory. Do some massive marketing campaigns so that people will know about your shop.

If you are a fitness fanatic, it might have crossed your mind to start a business related to it. It is a good idea to turn a hobby into a money-making venture. There are a lot of options for you. You might want to start a gym, become a personal trainer, or create a bodybuilding supplement shop. The last one may be lucrative as few shops deal with bodybuilding supplements.

Assessing the Supplements

Bodybuilding supplements are the main selling point of your business. It would help if you took the time to stock your shop with good body-building supplements. You must take time to select products you will sell in your store. Make sure that these supplements come from reputable manufacturers and distributors. These companies need to be respected by their clients and competitors. It would help if you researched each product you are selling. This way, you would know if they are adequate for your inventory.

Tips for Success

To make an impact in your target market, you must be different. You offer something unique for your customers. You need to carry a particular product line that is hard to find. This way, people can visit your store when they need something. Aside from bodybuilding, supplements offer other bodybuilding products like vitamins, proteins, etc. Keep in mind that you need to stand out above the rest. As come on, you might want to add a supplement plan or other promo that goes with your product.

Inventory management

Make sure that you keep track of your inventory. This way, you know what products are sold quickly and which collect dust. In this way, you can focus on the popular products and remove the ones that are not. It will also avoid the hassle of telling your customers you run out of stock. The bottom line is that you can't generate sales if you don’t have the product.

Advertising your bodybuilding shop

Advertising is one way to make your store known to people. People will not be aware of the store if you don’t advertise. Placing an ad in the local newspaper or distributing flyers are a few techniques for promoting your body-building supplements shop. Be creative when it comes to marketing materials. Create a brochure or information guide to hand out to your customers. Make sure you have a branding image so people can remember you.

Ensure you create a strong tie-up and partnership with distributors and manufacturers so your store can get quality products from them. You could also arrange a special deal for your store so that you can be able to get discounts. A better partnership with them can guarantee you the time delivery as well.

Pricing your items

You must have an organized pricing structure for your business. It will be best if you still maintain a competitive price range. Make sure to research so that you are not charging too much for a particular brand or too little that can affect your business. Knowing your cost can have an impact on your business.

Hi there, I have been trying to start my online supplement business for years now. It's more work then you would think. Tons and tons of data entry. I have used and tested many distributors. www.Europasports.com is the main one that most people use. www.bossonline.net is o.k. but they recently lost a few good manufacturers such as cytosport. So I do not recommend them as Muscle Milk by Cytosport is too big of a seller to miss out on. After you fill out there online form and submit your business license you are in and can then gain access to their online catalog and even get FTP access to download their inventory and excel sheets with pricing. However when dealing with these companies they will give you high prices and hope you keep your mouth shut. First things first, ask for the discount below wholesale excel sheet. These are deep discounts. Some are up to 30% below the original prices they give you. Now we are talking business. Now you have to be a wiz with excel. which I have gotten pretty good at creating the formulas needed for the pricing and inventory. You must also remember that Europasports.com has over 5,000 products that will all need descriptions and need inventory update at least a couple of times a week. Europasports.com do drop shipping meaning you don't keep any inventory you simply forward your orders to europasports.com then they bill you and you pocket the market that you billed the customer. Also, your discount below wholesale is not as deep if you do the drop shipping program. But I think the drop shipping is worth it as you only lose a small percentage on the discount usually around 2 to 5 percent. You will also need to know a little HTML and FTP depending on the shopping cart software you use. I have used a couple. I recommend 3dcart.com as you have control over your metatags, urls, description, titles, HTML, CSS, many other cool things as well. I do not recommend godaddy.com their shopping cart software is terrible. you will not have control over any of the things I listed above. Once you get into it you will realize how important these things are. If your website is not indexed by google and yahoo then you will not be found and you will not have a chance. 3dcart.com software is pretty good. I got indexed by google and yahoo in no time. However I have just given up on building my supplement website. It has just proven to be too much data entry. If I could find a business partner or two that are willing to sacrifice as much time as I am we could hang with the big dogs like bodybuilding.com, massnutrition.com and many more. Bodybuilding.com claims millions in sales each year. I would love to have a piece of that. Thanks for reading, Nathaniel, nathanielseeley@yahoo.com

Hi All, I have a bodybuilding website that I am thinking of selling (if it is worth my while). I set it up as a hobby back in 2005 so it has been online a while (very important if you know about getting high rankings in Google). For a short time I tried doing dropshipping (using Apollo Fulfillment) for a short time and just couldn't keep up with running the site well (too many other things going on). Anyway, the site gets around 6,500 - 7,000 visitors from search engines each month. I'm thinking of selling simply because I do not have the time to start making money from this very targeted traffic. If someone wanted to start a store this would be a great opportunity to get a massive headstart in terms of search engine traffic and SEO. This is an extremely competitive field in terms of search engine marketing. Please note I am only considering selling to a good offer. Thanks

I'm looking to opening my own online company. Where can I find information on becoming a distributor for some of these major supplement lines?

Hi there. I'm a new bodybuilder and PT and have found a big lack in the availability of sport supplements in my area. Any information about opening up a store would be appreciated as i feel in my area locals interested in competing or bettering themselves are paying huge prices and delivery to get what they need online.
