@Amrendra Kumar, scopes are unlimited as India grows a lot of paddy. You need to see your pocket first then asking about how much money is needed to start a mill. May I know how much you can invest in this business?

@abid, where are you from and what is your budget?

@ANIKET CHAVAN, you can go for rice pellets, puffed rice.

@abid, 30 lakhs rupees is not sufficient to start any type of rice mill. You can do something, if you can find a good buyer for sortex and silky rice then go for it. You can setup a plant with these machines and buy non-sortex rice from other mills for your plant. Many rice mills are there in the market those who don't use these machines and produce low quality rice that they sell to government.

@Suga Jorge, it is a good business to do. If you can find a miller who can give you on a weekly base credit then you will not invest much in hiring couple of people and on transportation. You need to do the market survey and find the buyers upfront so that you will not have to buy the rice and stock them in a warehouse. You can just make a dropship, this means you take the order from retailers and directly deliver it at their premises to save your warehousing cost.

@basha, do you have at least 2-5 lacs rupees to start this business? If you have then do your homework. Go and visit the retail stores to whom you would like to sell your rice. Ask them about different rice type and what is their buying cost. Later find some reputed and good mills from Andra and ask them to send you the samples with the price. Later match the sample and see the price difference. If you think there is enough margin between your buying and selling to coverup the transportation, insurance and profit then go with it.

@venkat, please go through some of my comments above and let us know in details what you need to know. You have to do a lot of homework and all more about your homework can be found in above comments. If it is a business then there will be losses and profits, it depends on how you do the business.

@Roshan, is it the total investment or your share from the business plan. If you are looking forward to setup a rice mill with 25 lacs budget then it is not possible in India.

@Ram nath, dera ram nath ji first u see in india what quality quality of rice you produce. if u have good rice plant with color sortex machine then you can think of export. rice in u.s. or other country also but you must have some good machinery for rice. thanks
