However there is more to it than that, there are steps you need to take and things you will need to think about before you start. However if you are trying to work in India only, I suggest you google manufacturing companies of handbags in India. Just be careful and do not send anyone money until you have contacted the factory directly, even still, I would be very careful about doing business with factories in foreign countries where you have no knowledge.

For example have you considered your design, fabrics, colors, budget and price point yet? Knowing these few basic answers will start you in the correct direction. If you have thought about these things then your next step is having sketches made. Hiring a sketch artist to realize your design is very important, make sure you do a lot of research into hiring the correct sketch artist for you and give him/her enough tangible examples of how you envision your designs as possible. There have been a lot of people who have not communicated their idea well enough in this stage and have been disillusioned. Communication with everyone who will be working on your designs is crucial; it eliminates mistakes which will save you time and money. Starting your own handbag line can be a bit confusing and overwhelming when you think about your first steps and what you actually need to do to get started. First, you will need to research your new business and your target market and where you will be selling. I cannot stress to you enough how important it is to get yourself a talented sketch artist. Investing in your professional sketches will be a representation of you and your (new) company. Your sketch artist should be able to do more than sketch, he or she should be able to make thumbnail sketches, digital sketches and work on different platforms to produce a clear accurate design so you can send precise designs to your manufacturer. It is also helpful if your sketch artist has experience in color forecasting and sales presentations for your sample line. I would suggest a full service manufacturing house because they offer many other services such as consulting, collaboration and different divisions for all your production needs, but if you find someone you like and trust, discuss what you are getting for your money so you are fully aware of where your money is going and what you can expect throughout your design phase.

Hello Lamar, I have received your email and will respond to you directly as well. Yes, there is a lot of advice I can give you on all your products but I will address your handbags here in the forum.

First, your handbags need to be realized and brought to life. You will need to find someone who can extract your ideas from your brain and translate that idea onto paper. Try to find a sketch artist that understands your design completely and who can translate what is in your head with ease. If I could give you one good piece of advice it would be to communicate all the way through your design phase so you can see what your design looks like from the beginning. If you are involved in your project you will be able to make modifications to your design as it develops. Beware, some sketch artist may charge you by how many sketches they produce for you rather than the quality they provide. I have may clients who come to me with design sketches or prototypes that are wrong and they need to start from scratch because the sketch artist gave them their interpretation of what they thought instead of what the designer wanted. This lack of communication and inexperience is unfortunate because it disappoints and wastes time and money.

First of all, I should tell you that I'm at the "newborn" step of handbag designing. I've been extremely frustrated at NOT being able to find a handbag that is just right for ME. And I do mean, EXTREMELY frustrated! I decided that I'd have to design my own, in order to get what I want. So, laying in bed the other night, not sleeping AGAIN, I made up the "plan" for my "line of handbags" (yes, it's a "line" now, rather than ONE handbag!), and I even thought of a name for my line. And, no, I wasn't dreaming & I'm not crazy. Just been kind of thinking about it for a long time. So, today I got on the web to start researching how to go about fruition of my plan, & I found THIS site. It's been very helpful to read all the comments & advice. I'm excited, but realize it's going to be a long process.
