How to Open a Bookstore and Cafe

Books are really the buddy of a bookworm person. Opening a bookstore with cafe is a good investment for a bookworm like you.

It’s a good combination of selling books and having a cafe in your bookstore to give your customers a comfortable feeling.

What is in a Bookstore and Cafe?

A bookstore and cafe is a combination of piles of books ready for sale and a comfortable cafe that provides place for bookworms to sip coffee and talk with their friends while enjoying their books. It is a modern type of library and a much more public place for reading with a twist for having a cafe in it. It is a very interesting place for a person who wants to meet new people who are also interested in reading and exploring new things and ideas through books. The cafe is really just an addition to the whole idea. It gives new impression to reading. Reading with a cup of coffee or tea with you is a lot better than reading without anything to drink or eat. It’s a higher level of coming into a public place to look for interesting books and a cafe with it.

As a bookstore owner, you should know that this type of business requires more customer related issues that should be handled. It requires you to know something about the books you are selling and requires you to give a good suggestion on what to order on your cafe inside your bookstore. You have to be close to your staff and crew inside your bookstore and cafe. Through this, you will be able to relay to them the things you want them to do while working in your business without being so bossy and without looking so terror to them. Remember that a good employer-employee relationship will really make the business prosper. This will also set a good image to your daily customers and they will have a good impression about your bookstore and cafe.

When you open your bookstore and cafe, you should have a good business plan. You should lay down all your plans and then refine it and by the time you reach the finality of your plan, you should execute it as is. Doing everything that is being said in your plan will really set up a good output of the business. There are also some times that you have to step out of the original plan to cater the recent situation of your business. At the end, it really all depends on the recent situation of your business.

You should also think of a catchy name for your bookstore and cafe business. Since you are a bookworm, there are many possible names for your business venture. Think of something unique, and something that will stick to the heads of the customers and would make them go inside your bookstore and cafe. Also, in your cafe, the names of your food and beverages should also be personalized. You can try changing the call names of your products especially if you are selling your very own products. It is a bit adventurous on your part but really it will pay off later on.

I live in a small town in CT that does not have a book store or a coffee bar. They have a coffee shop but it only stays open until 2pm. No commercial businesses are allowed in this town. I had a previous on-line business selling books and cds; but now I would like to open a book store with a coffee bar. Could you tell me how much it would cost to start up such a business? Also should I set it up as a LLC or a S-Corp? Thanks.

I live in Essex county N.J. and have hopes of opening a religion friendly place that can also be a study group/ discussion session/ book club in the evenings for people of all backgrounds to talk freely and express opinions about culture, current events, belief systems, family, love, work etc.
