New Resort Hotel Site being considered

Summary: Peterson Companies sold their land to Walt Disney for $11 million. It's a 15-acre site located at National Harbor, Maryland near Washington D.C. Both parties were pleased on this sale.

Walt Disney bought a 15-acre site at National Harbor near Washington D.C. for $11 million to develop the new location of their resort hotel.

Peterson Companies announced the sale of their land in the National Capital Region while Disney wanted to expand in Washington D.C. Their needs are a perfect match and Walt Disney decided to buy the site overlooking Potomac River in National Harbor, Maryland.

According to the chairman of Peterson Companies, Milton V. Peterson, “We are thrilled that Disney decided to invest here.” “This purchase is a positive vote of confidence in National Harbor and the whole Washington area to be one of the top family tourism destinations since Disney is the world’s top family entertainment company,” he added.

This new resort hotel would become one of the stand-alone resort hotels of Disney, which would be separate from its theme parks. It’s a resort hotel similar to the Hawaii project currently under construction. Moreover, it will be a prime geographic location providing guests with amenities, fun, and comfort famous in all Disney Hotels.

Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman, Jay Rasulo, said “The Washington D.C. area immediately jumped first on our list when we began to identify possible locations to expand our business.” He said further, “National Harbor has an array of inspirational stories and stirring sights of our nation’s capital. At the same time, it offers a lot of entertaining activities suited for regional visitors. Because of this, we believe that the area has a unique opportunity for family-friendly hospitality taken to a new level.”
