Critics Lambast Burger King For Latest Sandwich Ad“Unappetizing” Print Ad of BK’s Super Seven Incher Raises EyebrowsSummary: Critics are now pushing for the removal of the latest Burger King Ad showing a woman, who was about to “blow” a seven-incher sandwich. They said that the Ad, which leaves little to the imagination, is distasteful not only to the people’s appetite but also on the social level.
Burger King is now in hot water for releasing its latest print advertisement in Singapore showing a woman about to take on its “Super Seven Incher” sandwich. Critics said that the print ad is plain distasteful and has no moral and social implications. The limited promotion print Ad, taglined “Blow your mind away”, shows an open mouth woman with red lipstick about to take on a seven-incher sandwich. The advertisement continues with its line, saying “fill your desire for something long, juicy and flame-grilled.” Advertising experts said that the BK advertisement is nothing but a “distasteful” reference to the actual oral sex. The experts also questioned the credibility of the Singaporean government, known for its strict control of social conduct, for allowing the advertisement to be posted. Meanwhile, blogger and New York advertisement copywriter Mark Duffy echoed the critics’ claims, saying that the advertisement was the worst type of product promotion he had ever seen. In his 17 years in the industry, he said that the BK advertisement is misogynistic to the women around the world and it's also unappetizing to social taste. “BK should have hired a top-notch photographer,” said Duffy, referring to the imperfection of the advertisement. Meanwhile, Burger King Spokesperson Lauren Kuziner argued that the advertisement was specially made for the Singaporean audience and nowhere else. She also said that it is only on a limited time offer and was supported by the local franchisees. She also cited that the print ads generated higher sales and positive consumer outlook in its local market. Similar Articles
