Boeing 878 Dreamliner Delivery Deferred Until 2010

Airlines giant Boeing announced the delay of the delivery date for its 878 Dreamliner due to workers' strike that lasted for two months.

The delivery of the best-selling new airplane was two years behind schedule as the company faced several protests from the employees and several modifications have to be made in the aircraft.

The world’s largest aircraft manufacturer Boeing Co. has deferred anew the delivery of its flagship 878 Dreamliner until the second quarter of next year due to a two-month strike by its workers and several modifications on the aircraft.

The airline giant announced the delay of the delivery date for its 878 Dreamliner due to workers’ strike that lasted for two months.

The delivery of the best-selling new airplane was two years behind schedule as the company faced several protests from the employees and several modifications have to be made in the aircraft.

Boeing pointed the previous delays to the parts suppliers, saying that they have already positioned managers to key operation points to keep the production line going.

Analysts backed Boeing’s move, saying that the new organizational structure that the company implemented will make sense especially with a tight delivery date to break.

“It is the perfect timing for Boeing to implement such measures especially now that the delivery of the flagship aircraft was delayed again,” an analyst said.

According to the airplane company, 787 manager Pat Shanahan was appointed for program control director for all the commercial planes replacing out-going manager Carolyn Corvi.

Meanwhile, Scott Fancher will be in charge of the 878 development and will directly report the progress to Shanahan.
