More Fuel-efficient Airplanes in 2050, Emission to be cut by 50 percent

Summary: More fuel-efficient airplanes and safer aviation by 2050 will be the main topic of the airlines companies in the coming UN summit in New York City on Tuesday.

The airline industry said that it recognizes the move by the UN to augment the worsening problem of climate change.

In line with environmental and safety laws, major airline businesses all over the world said that it would cut down carbon emissions into half by 2050 as the aviation industry put up a new standard that would comply with the climate change initiative of the United Nations.

Under the said agreement, British Airways chief executive Willie Walsh said that the airlines industry, plane manufacturers, and airport administrators in the world agreed to help the UN in achieving its goal, which is 50 percent cut to the carbon dioxide emission produced by the industry by 2050.

The UN is set to discuss topics about climate change as it is set to hold a forum in New York City on Tuesday. Going “green” will be the agenda of the summit as pressure on the airline and manufacturing industries began to take shape as worsening climates have started to affect major parts of the world.

Walsh is expected to discuss the new agreement among airline players, which years ago, were not included in the Kyoto Protocol.

“This is our chance to rectify the omission of our mistakes, especially the high carbon emission that generates unusual climate changes in the world. This is our chance and we must seize it,” Walsh said.
