Amazon to Replace Defective Kindle Free of Charge

Few days ago, several consumers filed a class lawsuit against online retail giant Amazon over its defective electronic-book Kindle.

Meanwhile, the company recently decided to replace the defective product free of charge and pulled out its $200 service charge it previously demanded to consumers who want their Kindle to be fixed.

Online retail store Amazon announced it will replace some defective electronic-book Kindle free of charge after consumers charged the company with a class lawsuit that seeks $5 million in damages.

In a statement, Amazon said it encourages consumers to return their broken Kindle for a free replacement.

Few days ago, several consumers, who bought this electronic book, filed a class-action suit against the company for refusing to replace the device’s cracked screen and accessory-cover.

In a court-affidavit, the complainants were asking the company to refund their money, compensate their expenses for the lawsuit, and pay them “treble damages” or triple the amount of the actual damages.

According to Matthew Geise, one of the complainants, he called Amazon to report that his Kindle has a crack and also its protective cover. The company’s customer service representative told him that the accessory-cover has a warranty, but the screen has not. He was then offered to pay $200 for a service charge if he wanted it to be fixed.

Because many consumers experienced the same thing that happened to Geise, some posted their complaints on Amazon’s review page. One complainant said on the post that Amazon was unresponsive to its customers.

I am looking to return my defective kindle for a new one. It had worked but when I went to turn it on the screen was not working. It was black and gray. It wasn't dropped it just didn't work. Please let me know where I can send it for a new one. I love my kindle and upset that it no longer work. Thank you. Susan Vito

Elgin, Illinois, USA. The Kindle warped enough to split the side of the Kindle. It still works however, no safe use because it will make a popping noise with just ten minutes of use. What can be done. Is this a defect? Thank you for your time, Have a Day!
