Hello Sir/Madam, i'm planning to open up a veg/ non-veg restaurant in Alor Setar,Kedah. Here malays are majority, followed by chinese where else Indians contribute a small percentage and are dispersed around. Firstly the food prepared should attract non Indians rather than the hoping for minority group of Indians here. I really need your kind advise and ideas to build-up a presentable restaurant and the set up should be really attractive and inviting to the customers. Not forgetting the cost that will incur and the food , environment that should adapt to the expected customers. Moreover your expertise is much expected to give me a boost to achieve my plans.

@SACHIN MALHOTRA. Hi Sachin, hope u have researched on ur subject diff country got diff standards of license. There is fixed cost to every business before start and also to run it. So now it depends on you how much you want to spend on interior. The idle place to restaurant will be a high traffic area with parking facility. Always remember that this business runs on 50% cost eg. to have fixed cost of 30000 $ u need 60000 $ sale. If u have space i got a very nice idea to be worked. So you can get in touch with me on this. My name is parvinder walia i am business consultant for this industry. waiting to know more about ur plan so that i can know more what ur trying wats ur fixed cost i can let u know how you can work on it.

@saurabh sharma, caterring business is not joke please dont mind but there are lot of people who get into business and get stinged. So decide carefully. this business can vary as per no of people ur doing catering. Secondly this business is reference business so u screwed once u r gone for ever. so be careful on ur thoughts. Looks like ur first exp as ur going only with chef instead of going with ur own thoughts. Lets discuss more deeply on your thoughts. u can contact me any time. one small question ur from lucknow----- give me 5 tandoori mutton kabab answer this to ur self and u will come to know how deeply u know this business.

    parvinder.walia@gmail.com

  • Parv Walia novice adviser said on September 29, 2011

@Krishna, The license part mostly will be from municipal, excise dept. For that u need to check the cost from local office. now than plan sounds good. its a low cost and big margin business when we talk about south indian food. i know u already know about grinders and all. what will be there cost in usa. so ur left with a big burner and tawa with some vessels. if ur interested i can provide u labour also from india.

@anjali, Start a company get VAT # take food license, Van to deliver goods, Helper to present food buy cutlery and plates. hire a person to wash them. It actually easy once u think of all overheads from beginning.
